Project description:
Name:
Assessment of Feasibility of Management Information System and
establishment of Child Protection IMS and M&E under the Department of
Social Services (DSS), Ministry of Social Welfare (MSW)
Description:
The project is to support a process of establishing an Information
Management and M&E System on Child Protection under the GoB Department
of Social Services (DSS), Ministry of Social Welfare (MSW). The purpose
of the project is to provide necessary information for better responding
to existing and emerging needs of children as well as to monitor
progress made towards the achievement of the concerned national,
regional and global commitments in this regard.
The key activities and deliverables in two phases (Phase-1 and Phase-2)
are as follows:
First
Phase: Situation Analysis: 
Desk review of relevant documentation,
Developing a
proposition of key indicators and finalizing assessment methodology,
Interviews with key stakeholders in the various ministries, NGOs, UN and
donor agencies and information
collection,
Data Analysis for relevance and reliability, and
Formulation
of feasible and affordable recommendations on establishment of a data
base on Child
Protection at DSS.
Second
Phase: Implementation of first phase recommendations:
Establishment
of a database on Child Protection at DSS and an interactive Web portal.
Choice
of software and development of database,
Technical
assistance to the relevant department of DSS to collect data already
available with other institutions
as identified by the assessment and to design and
implement a plan for the collection of missing data in
coordination with divisional, district and upazilla
department of Social Welfare,
Elaborate
technical working document for DSS unit in charge of IMS and M&E,
Training
provision to the government official in charge of the child protection
database on report generating and
updating information,
Training
on IMS and M&E of CP of key government officials from Social Welfare,
Finalize
report after sharing draft report with relevant stakeholders and
incorporating feedback
